Biomia

Climate and topography are  major controls of the world's landscapes. However, human actions can have great impacts in the natural environments, creating new -altered- ecosystems.

BIOMIA explores the Earth's terrestrial landscapes through a bivariate CMY scale representing biomes (natural landscapes) from wet (yellow) to dry (cyan/magenta), and  from cold (cyan) to warm (yellow/magenta). On top of this layer, a dotted pattern of varying density represents human landscapes (anthromes; Ellis & Ramankutty), from high impact (large dots) to low impact (small dots) areas.
